It inhibits many wildlife species & is plentiful in birdlife with the most treasured species being the Loggerhead Turtle, also known as the Caretta Caretta. These beautiful turtle’s are endangered & nearing extinction so the protection of their nesting sites is hugely important, this means Patara will always remain untouched from heavy development.
Patara beach attracts many visitors from Kalkan, Kas, Fethiye & the other tourist areas of the ‘Turquoise Coast’. With its crystal clear waters, it is ideal for any swimmer or snorkeler & for those wishing to indulge in sunbathing, sunscreen is a must. Although if these get too much, there are sun loungers & parasols available for hire & other facilities include a shower, toilets & a little attractive café, which have all been designed to be in keeping with the surroundings.
